Pendant Lighting - All you need to know..

DA P E N D A N T
Pendant lighting is all the rage right now and we can see why. These fixtures add personality to a room and are a great way of making a statement while giving your space an updated look. If you’re thinking of new lighting and have your eye on pendants, here are 4 tips to help guide you in choosing a fixture and installing it.
DESIGN & STYLE
Consider the overall style of your space where the pendant will be hung. Is your home minimalist and modern? Is it rustic or industrial? Would you describe it as understated and classic or luxe and glamorous? Identifying the style of your home will help you select a pendant design that fits in seamlessly while still packing a decorative punch.
PLACEMENT
They can be suspended as solo fixtures or grouped in multiples. If you like the look of multiple pendants suspended in a row then the kitchen island, bar countertop, or dining room table is a good place to hang them. Keep the ‘rule of three’ in mind when suspending multiple pendants in order to establish a sense of rhythm and balance.
SIZE & SCALE
Large rooms and hallways can handle super-sized pendants while more compact spaces call for small-scale fixtures. Pendants suspended over a kitchen island or dining room table should be measured to ensure they’re a suitable match for the size of the surface they’re placed above.
HEIGHT
If your pendant lighting will be positioned in a space where people will walk past it or under it then remember to allow for enough clearance space. Most ceiling heights are about 240cm tall and call for pendant lighting to be suspended about 30-50cm below the ceiling.
